Flores, a dynamic 5th grade teacher at Mt. Vernon School, was recently
honored as the California Association of Billingual Educators (CABE),
Teacher of the Year for Migrant Region 21, which serves over 4,000
migrant students at forty one schools in the Bakersfield City School
District.
On
Thursday, January 19th, Sierra Middle School invited district and
community guests to come to the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for
their new 20 kilowatt solar structure. Those attending received
solar-cooked mini pizzas, UV activated nail polish and color changing
bracelets and got to see various solar science projects on display, in
other words, it was a Solarbration!
