School Health Coordinator

Debbie Wood, RN, BSN, PHN, MA, Credentialed School Nurse

Debbie Wood came to Bakersfield City School District in November 2002. Prior to coming to Bakersfield City School District she was Director of Health Services for Delano Union School District for six years. Debbie began her School Nursing career with Bakersfield City School District in 1987, prior to which she was a Public Health Nurse with the Kern County Health Department.

She is a leading innovator in School Health in the Central Valley, and has held the position of President-Elect of the Central Valley Section of the California School Nurse Organization. She was awarded the School Nurse Administrator of the Year for the Central Valley Section of the California School Nurse Organization in 1997. She has presented at the National Task Force on Healthy People 2010 in 1998, and for statewide conferences to groups such as the California School Health Administrators.

Debbie holds a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, and a Master's of Arts in Administration from California State University, Bakersfield and a School Nursing Credential from California State University, Northridge.
