Pre-K Family Literacy Program

The  Pre-Kindergarten and Family Literacy Program (PKFLP) is designed to  facilitate a child's transition to kindergarten, provide part-day age and developmentally appropriate activities the year before they are eligible to be enrolled in kindergarten.  The program provides a literacy component to encourage parents to work on interactive literacy activities both in the classroom and at home with their children.  The program also includes a parenting education component.

PKFLP and Bakersfield City School District is offering the following FREE classes:
  • ESL Classes (English as a Second Language)
  • Parenting Classes
  • Parent and Child Interactive Literacy Activities
  • Pre-Kindergarten for 4 year olds

Families must participate in all classes and meet the low income guidelines to qualify for the program.
