Classified Application Process

Applications for classified positions are accepted only when vacancies are advertised.   Applicants must meet the requirements specified in the job opportunity bulletin and file all necessary documents prior to the application deadline.  It is the applicant's responsibility to file all materials with Personnel Services.

Application forms may be printed from this website and then completed by typing or printing legibly all required information.  Forms may not be altered or reformatted for a personal computer.  Changes to or reformating of the application form will disqualify the applicant from consideration.

Required tests are listed in the job opportunity bulletin.  Please contact Personnel Services to register scheduled tests.  Test scores are valid for three years.  A current district employee working in a position that required the same test needed for a current vacancy is not required to retake the test.

Instructional aide positions require a California high school diploma dated January 1, 1981 or later OR the passage of the Kern County high school proficiency test (or CBEST).   The high school proficiency test is given at Bakersfield Adult School.  For test dates and more information, contact Bakersfield Adult School at (661) 835-1855.

Typing certificates verifying 40 net wpm are required for all clerical and secretarial positions.  We accept typing certificates from any accredited college or business college.

Applicants meeting minimum requirements will be referred to selection committees.   Committees are comprised of one or more district administrators who conduct paper screening and interviews, then make recommendations for employment.  Employment of all staff is made by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent.

Job summaries and application requirements are included in the job opportunity bulletins.

We wish to thank all applicants for their interest in our district.  Positions may be readvertised or application deadlines extended at the discretion of the District.   Unless otherwise notified by the District, applications received in response to a current bulletin will be considered for available positions in the same classification during this school year.  Those meeting minimum qualifications, including passage of required tests, will remain active during this time.  Applicants will not be individually notified of their application status.

The provisions of a job opportunity bulletin do not constitute a contract expressed or implied and any of the provisions contained therein may be modified or revoked without notice.
