Communications works to produce a free flow of information to
parents, teachers, and the Bakersfield community, to continue to strive
to be the District of choice.

Some of the publications our department is responsible for
include: The Direct Connection and the Guide for
Parents and Students. Information is also provided to the local
media about everything from new legislation to educational events and
District progress.

Our translation team provides Spanish translation of documents
in the District. These documents help keep limited-English speakers
fully informed about their child and the BCSD.

The technology explosion has placed the onus on the District to
provide increasing access to information via the web. The
Communications department maintains several areas of the District
website.

Communications also manages video production. Videos are used to
assist, inform, train, and teach. Video Taping Request forms are available on
our website and should be submitted 3 weeks in advance.

Please let us know if you have any comments or suggestions regarding the Communications Department.
