Dear Families and Friends,
Great new achievements and challenges are on the horizon. I anticipate another wonderful year for our Downtown Elementary School. Our students' academic accomplishments exceed all expectations. We are very fortunate to have the most highly trained and accomplished staff anywhere. The time and attention given to our students by the teachers are reflected in the accomplishment of our API of 871.
State budget restraints make it necessary for our schools to continue to manage money wisely while providing teachers and students with all the tools necessary for academic achievement. Parental support plays a vital role in our successes. Our terrific PTA not only helps fill in many financial gaps, but has many projects which helps to enhance student learning and our educational environment.
The PTA has supported our school in many ways such as the play structure, shade structure, Camp KEEP, 4th grade mission trip, school carnival, books for our library, and Young Authors Fair. Working together as a team has created a strong relationship between home and school. Our students recognize that both their parents and the Downtown School have a mutual goal in giving them the best education available anywhere. High expectations have brought about high achievement.
I am thankful for dedicated involved parents and qualified hard working staff who are devoted to the academic success of all our students.
