A Message from the Principal
Dear Franklin Families,
As the new school year progresses the students continue to move forward on their academic journey. I am continually impressed with the achievements of our students, the commitment from our staff, and the love and support shown by our parents. Franklin School has a lot to be proud of.
Congratulations to our students, parents and staff for our academic achievement on the Spring 2007 STAR California Standards Test. Based on the report of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Academic Performance Index (API) released by the California Department of Education, Franklin School has not only met, but also exceeded all performance targets for AYP and school wide API. The combined efforts of the Franklin School community continues to translate into stellar student achievement. The high test scores and academic performance of Franklin students is a reflection of the dedication, commitment, and teamwork exemplified by all.
Franklin Staff continues to strive for excellence. The BCSD Pathway for Teaching & Learning is being implemented in all Franklin and District classrooms. Currently, we are focusing on Standards/Objectives and Student Engagement. In addition, our school wide AYP/API goals are posted around campus and in each classroom. We are enlisting your support as we work towards these targets.
Student attendance is key to academic success. We appreciate your support and diligence to ensure that your child(ren) attend school everyday on time so they will benefit from the planned lessons and learning activities their teachers have prepared. We received additional funding this year because Franklin School met the district attendance goal for the 2006-2007 school year. This year our goal is 96.4%- school average. Each classroom works to meet or exceed this goal each month. Thank you for your help.
The children look great in their school uniforms. As a reminder, students may wear solid white, navy blue, or red button down shirts, polo shirts or blouses with sleeves and collars. Pants, shorts, skorts, skirts or jumpers may be worn in navy blue or khaki.
I am thankful and honored to be a part of the Franklin School community. Each day I am impressed and amazed with the hard working students, involved parents, highly competent teachers, and committed support staff who are devoted to the academic success of all students.
Sincerely,
Carla Tafoya
Principal
