Students at Longfellow had an outstanding visitor on their campus, James Weddle, a Longfellow alumnus.  Mr. Weddle attended Longfellow in the 1940’s.  He talked to the students about his experiences walking to school, his 6th grade teacher, and recited a poem that he learned in the 6th grade.  The amazing thing was that he was able to recite the poem from memory.

To top off the visit, Mr. Weddle donated $1,000 to buy poetry books in honor of his 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Hattie Hoy.  Thank you, Mr. Weddle, for your generous donation!
