Immunizations Requirements & Registration Information
School Registration Tips
- Children born on or before December 2, 2001, are eligible for kindergarten.
- Children born on or before December 2, 2000, are eligible for first grade.
- A birth certificate or a passport is required to verify the child’s age.
- Proof of address is required, can be a utility bill addressed to the home or rental agreement.
- All first graders entering a California public school for the first time are required by state law to have a physical. BCSD requires that students receive a physical prior to entering kindergarten.
School of Choice
- Schools will be open August 14 to enroll new students and accept school of choice Intradistrict Transfer Requests.
- An Intradistrict Transfer Request is available at your school of residence.
- If your child is currently attending a school on an intradistrict transfer, that is considered your child’s school of residence.
- Transportation to and from the school of choice is the parent/guardian’s responsibility.
- For more detailed information on school of choice criteria, please call your school of residence.
Kindergarten through 8th-Grade Immunization Requirements
The following immunization requirements are for students attending the Bakersfield City School District.- Polio - 4 doses
- Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus (DPT) - 5 doses
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - 2 doses
- Hepatitis B - 3 doses
- Chickenpox - 1 dose or documented disease or immunity
Children lacking one or more of the required vaccine doses, but not currently due for a
dose, may be admitted on the condition that they receive the remaining doses when due
according to the schedule. (Check with your child’s school for the immunization schedule. Depending on age, some doses are not required.)
