Report Cards

To better reflect your child's progress towards meeting the new State Standards, the BCSD has introduced a new report card format.

This report card was developed through a piloting process that provided the BCSD's Curriculum Commission information for improving our reporting system to parents.  Based on information gathered  from parents and teachers, the following changes were made:

Language
The number of standards reported at each grade level has been reduced. The language used to describe the standard has been simplified. In kindergarten, some of the standards were divided into two parts.

Grades
Letter grades have been added for reading, writing, and mathematics.  These    letter grades are consistent with the grading for the Curriculum Area of the report card.

Technology
The size of the report card has been reduced.  It is now printed on legal size paper.

The standards-based report card will be used in all kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms across the district.  Third grade participation is limited to the pilot schools only.
