Christmas Spirit across the district
During this Holiday Season students all across the district brought some Holiday cheer to less fortunate members of our community.
Compton Junior High students in conjunction with the Bakersfield Police Department put together gift baskets which were later distributed to retirement homes. 37 students drove around town spreading the Christmas spirit and caroling for senior citizens at St. John's Manor, Castlewood Retirement, and Plaza Towers.
Munsey Elementary's student board members volunteered with the Salvation Army during their annual "Bakersfield Community Christmas". They helped distribute toys and food baskets.
College Heights Elementary's after school program held a coin drive wish raised more than $800. This money was then used to purchase Christmas gifts for a special deserving family.
Specially selected students at Franklin Elementary were recipients of a wide variety of gifts including Christmas trees and decorations, donated and delivered by students from Bakersfield High School. Gifts included a wide variety of toys, musical instruments, over a dozen bicycles, and even a bed with a built-in desk and a slide.
Other schools were also busy spreading the Holiday cheer; like Thorner Elementary with their "Operation Shoe Box" benefiting the Boys and Girls Club, and Chipman Junior High with their coat and food drive helping Community Action Partnership, among others.
