Californian donates over 5,000 books to BCSD students
The Bakersfield Californian's second annual "My First Library" book drive collected more than 5,000 children's books, which were donated to BCSD students.Five pallets of books were delivered to the Education Center where they were sorted for age-appropriate content by Sandra Yoon, Libary Media Services Coordinator, and Teresa Twisselman, her counterpart with KCSOS.
Then they were delivered to Longfellow, Pauly, and Roosevelt Elementary schools, as well as Emerson Middle School.
At Roosevelt the books were arranged on the cafeteria tables by grade level where the students came in and pick a book or two to take home with them.
