2008 Spelling Bee Award Winners
This year's BCSD Spelling Bee was held on January 15th and 16th in the Board Room of the Education Center. A total of 29 students divided into 2 regions participated this year. It was a tough and interesting competition with words like 'kremlin', 'chutney', 'umlaut', 'banzai', 'haversack', and 'nachtmusik'. On the second night of competition the 2 finalists had a 14 round showdown before we could crown a winner.Congratulations to the district’s 2008 Spelling Bee Award Winners!
Region I:
1st Place – Oslijaem Lopez, Voorhies Elementary School
2nd Place – Gracie Perez, Stiern Middle School
3rd Place – Adriana Alcala, Owens Intermediate School
Region II:
1st Place – Justin Alejo, Thorner Elementary School
2nd Place – Nathan Soland, Downtown School
3rd Place – Andrew Garcia, Sequoia Middle School
The 1st and 2nd Place winners in each region will continue on to the Kern County Spelling Bee on February 7th, 2008.
