Viva Technology Day @ Washington
On Friday, February 8th, a select group of
students from Washington Middle School were treated to a day full of
math, science and technological fun.Viva Technology Day integrates competitive engineering and science based exercises with success stories from minority and women scientists and engineers to promote careers in science, technology, engineering and math. It also focuses on the many different careers that actually use math and science every day.
Students experienced a hands-on day filled with competitive and educational STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)-oriented exercises presented to them throughout the day. They worked in teams led by engineering and science university students, with the expressed goals of communicating the different STEM fields. They also heard presentations from technology professionals. Active participation gave the students opportunities to accrue Viva Dollars and win educational prizes at the end of the day.
