Teacher of the Year '08
Lisa Gonzalez-Beckman of Washington Middle School was awarded the Rising Star Award at this year's Jim Burke Education Foundation 'Teacher of the Year' awards. Also four other BCSD instructors were nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award; Kimberly McCalla of Chipman Junior High, Shane Koerner of Sierra Middle School, Susan Gay of Curran Middle School, and Jonathan Freehling of Washington Middle School.Educators and dignitaries from all across the county were present during the awards ceremony that was held at KCSOS offices in Downtown Bakersfield. Bebe Burke was there to present a few of the awards, and was also surprised with a special recognition.
