Welcome to California State Preschool Program

  • Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) operates 20 California State Preschool Programs (CSPP) for children turning three or four years old on or before December 1st.  Priority for services is given to the oldest four-year-old child(ren) with the lowest income. We offer a morning and afternoon class, with each class providing 3 hours of learning through play.  According to the California Department of Education, Early Education Guidelines, preschool students are certified based on age, family size, and income eligibility. 
     
    It is our goal to support our families in their child-rearing role by establishing a positive partnership between home and school. All children are cared for in a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom with qualified permitted staff. Children have daily opportunities to learn new and exciting foundational skills through purposeful play. Our CSPP Team provides developmentally appropriate learning activities that address the social & emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of our youngest learners.
