The Bakersfield City School District (“District”) Junior High/Middle School After School Athletics Program shall be conducted separately from the regular school program. These activities are not graded, do not offer credit, and do not take place during classroom time. Requirements for participation in this program shall be limited to those that are essential to the success of the activity. No student shall be prohibited from participating in the program because of the inability to pay fees associated with the program. All athletic activities are open to all students irrespective of sex or gender identity.
The purposes of the District Junior High/Middle School After School Athletics Program are to:
- Afford an opportunity for all students to participate in an interschool athletic program;
- Lend identity to the school and develop school pride including a positive school climate;
- Develop within participating students a sense of teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and responsibility; and
- Promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being and character development of participating students.
