NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPOINT SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE
BAKERSFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Bakersfield City School District is seeking interested candidates to fill the current vacancy on the Board of Education. On Friday, October 27, 2023, Trustee Shannon Zimmerman (Trustee Area 5) submitted her resignation from the Board effective immediately. On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Board of Education took action to fill the vacant seat through the provisional appointment process. The provisional appointment is a one-year term, ending in November 2024.
Due to the vacancy on the Board of Trustees of the Bakersfield City School District resulting from the resignation of Board member Shannon Zimmerman, the Board intends to provisionally appoint a qualified individual to the Board of Trustees, pursuant to Education Code section 5091.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, citizens of the State, residents of the District, and its Trustee Area 5 (Applicable map of Trustee Area 5 before 2022 revisions can be found at www.bcsd.com), registered voters, and not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the State from holding a civil office. The application deadline has been updated and applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, to the Office of the Superintendent located at 1300 Baker Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305.
AVISO DE INTENCIÓN PARA NOMBRAR A UN MIEMBRO DE LA JUNTA DE EDUCACIÓNDISTRITO ESCOLAR DE LA CIUDAD DE BAKERSFIELD
El Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Bakersfield está buscando candidatos interesados para cubrir la vacante actual en la Junta de Educación. El viernes 27 de octubre de 2023, Shannon Zimmerman, miembro de la Junta de Educación (Área 5) presentó su renuncia a la Junta con efecto inmediato. El martes 14 de noviembre de 2023, la Junta de Educación tomó medidas para cubrir el puesto vacante mediante el proceso de nombramiento provisional. El nombramiento provisional tiene un mandato de un año y finalizará en noviembre de 2024.
Debido a la vacante en la Junta de Educación del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Bakersfield como resultado de la renuncia del miembro de la Junta Shannon Zimmerman, la Junta tiene la intención de nombrar provisionalmente a una persona calificada para la Junta de Educación, de conformidad con la sección 5091 del Código de Educación.

The Board is seeking candidates who demonstrate leadership, understand and appreciate the culturally diverse community the District serves, support public education in our community, and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member.

- Not disqualified by the Constitution or State law from holding office
