Join a Committee

Helping our Schools

  • Why join a committee?

School committees are a small group of people chosen to represent a Sierra and either make decisions or collect information for it. Parents are important members of these committees. As a member, you can help make decisions for your child and become a partner with the school.

Parents will learn about school's responsibilities and how decisions are made. Parents can help identify factors that may help or hinder student success. Parents can review the school goals and help determine what needs to be accomplished in the upcoming months. Parents can show support for teachers, principals, and administrators by attending the meeting, helping with the school, and showing enthusiasm for the school plan. Here, at Sierra, we love parental involvement because it can lead to improved student attendance, improved academics, and reduced behavioral issues.

What committees can a parent join?

African American Parent Advisory Committee (AAPAC)

    English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)

    School Site Council (SSC)
