The District offers Anthem Blue Cross PPO as their sole health insurance provider.  Our administrator of this plan is the Self-Insured Schools of California, SISC.  SISC is not an insurance company, they are a public entity.  SISC employees are public school employees just like we are. 1 out of every 1,000 Americans is covered by a SISC medical plan.  The District is self-insured with SISC.  This means that we pay our own claims.  The money the District contributes to each employee's health plan goes right back in the account to pay our own health claims. Yearly health insurance rates are based on our previous year's claims experience.
