Owens Students Raise Funds for St. Jude’s

March 1, 2019 - Several 5th grade students at Owens Intermediate Elementary started a fundraising project to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  The students collaborated to create a piece of art which they title “Wings of Living Hope.”   The artwork is on display at the school and observers can make a donation to get their picture taken in front of the “wings.”

Kathryn Douglas-Tierny, teacher of the 5th grade class that organized the project, said, “They read about and researched this cause, and decided this was one of the organizations they would wish to support with their time and fundraising efforts.  From there, the students created this amazing piece of artwork, the “Wings of Living Hope.”

In just a short time, the students were able to raise more than $180.00.  The artwork will continue to be on display and available for photographs during school hours at Owens Intermediate.  Donations will also be accepted through May 1st.  For more information, or to make a donation, you can call Mrs. Tierney at 661-631-5950.
