BCSD Announces Timeline for Summer Learning Action Item in the LCAP

March 21, 2019 - We are excited to share with you that BCSD will be implementing a modified Summer Learning Program for the 2019 school year! Thanks to additional funding made available through the Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) Grant, we will be offering a summer learning session that will take place at the following BCSD schools for students who attend these schools:
  • Casa Loma Elementary School
  • Longfellow Elementary School
  • Stella Hills Elementary School
  • Emerson Middle School

For all other BCSD students, additional information on summer learning resources will be made available in the coming weeks. If you would like to know more, Mr. Mark Luque, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, will be providing more information about the program and what it entails during his presentation at the March 26, 2019 regular board meeting.

Additionally, the Bakersfield City School District (BCSD) Senior Leadership Team has created the following timeline with information on next steps in regards to the revision of the Summer Learning Action item in the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP):

The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the 2018-2019 LCAP Revision on April 9, 2019 as part of a Special Board Meeting and then take action on the proposed revision during the April 23, 2019 Regular Board Meeting.

All Board of Education meetings and Public Hearings are open to the public and will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the BCSD Board Room at 1300 Baker Street. The auditorium will be equipped with sound from the board Meeting and a screen that will display the board meeting agenda and presentations should the Board Room reach capacity.

We appreciate our stakeholder feedback, patience, and partnership as we work through this process.
