College Heights Students Receive Special Recognition

November 21, 2019 -Thirteen male students from College Heights were recognized for their achievements in behavior, attendance and academics.  The students were invited to a special Thanksgiving luncheon that took place at the Petroleum Club near downtown Bakersfield.

The students enjoyed a limousine ride to and from the venue, and a three course meal as part of the celebration of their achievements.  Also participating in the luncheon were Dr. Tim Fulenwider Director of Instructional Support Services at BCSD, College Heights Principal Lynn McEntire, teacher and mentor Jorge Laris, and several community partners who helped make the event possible.

Mr. Laris said, “These kids have been working hard with their behavior, attendance and academics, and this luncheon is a reward to them.  We are excited to have this special event to honor them.”

Mari Perez-Dowling of the United Way was also in attendance, she said, “United Way partnered with College Heights because we love this program involving male students.  So we are here celebrating 13 kids for their accomplishments, and we hope that this is something that continues in the future.”
