March 28, 2018 – In an effort to recruit and staff the best teachers for BCSD classrooms, the Human Resources department at BCSD held their 5th Annual Teacher Job Fair at Downtown School.
Diane Cox, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, said, “Today is very exciting for the school district – we are hosting our 5th Annual Job Fair. Today’s Job Fair is for teachers, and teachers seeking promotional positions, such as coaches, intervention specialists and academic program leaders.”
Irma Garcia, a prospective teacher, was asked why she was interested in teaching at BCSD. “I want to give back to my community. I was a student a BCSD student at Garza and Sierra, and I feel that giving back to the community is the best way to show that BCSD helps their students succeed,” she said.
Maria Smock, another prospective teacher, said, “I love BCSD. I have met some fantastic principals and the way they run their schools, you know it’s a warm learning environment and that they care about the children and staff.”
The event was very successful with over 200 candidates interviewed and 60 conditional contracts offered.
