April 20, 2018 – Jefferson Elementary School celebrated its one hundred years of existence and commitment to education. Students and their families, alumni, teachers and staff members were present for the celebration on April 14th. Attendees enjoyed the food booths, musical presentations, games, and a resource fair.
“My children are very happy to participate in this celebration; 100 years means there is a lot of history,” said parent Jose de Jesus Valencia.
The students rejoiced for the special occasion. “I am very happy to celebrate. It is an honor for me to be part of the generation of students in turn to celebrate Jefferson Elementary School birthday,” said student Lucia Mares.
The greatest surprise was the visit of alumni from several generations who returned to celebrate memories at Jefferson School. “I am here to celebrate the culture of Jefferson Elementary. It is amazing to come back to my school and see how much our school has grown,” said Marshella Taylor, Jefferson alumni and Behavioral Intervention Specialist at Bakersfield City School District.
“It’s been a long time since I was here. Jefferson School was the foundation of my education. I am currently a high school student and I clearly see the route to follow to achieve my higher education,” said alumni Pablo Naranjo.
Congratulations to Jefferson Elementary School! Once a Patriot, always a Patriot!
