Nearly 3,000 Make Up the BCSD Class of 2018

June 7, 2018 – Nearly 3,000 students walked across the stage during several Jr. High and Middle school graduations held throughout the Bakersfield City School District this past June 1st and 4th. They were accompanied by their families and the school staff. The graduation ceremonies took place at the Fox Theater, Rabobank Theater, and our Education Center's Auditorium.

“It is an honor for all of us to be here and graduating to another step in our lives,” said Samuel Rose, graduate of Walter W. Stiern Middle School. “I would like to thank the teachers for the knowledge and fortitude that we had learned and that will help us move forward in our endeavors to high school and beyond.”

"I feel very happy because I'm going to continue learning in high school," said graduate student Miguel Contreras from Cato Middle School. "Education will help us achieve what we want in life."

Maria Rivera is the grandmother of two graduating students. She is convinced that academic education is a fundamental part of human development and that family must support students at all times. "That is why I am a volunteer at Mt. Vernon Elementary School, and member of the School Site Council. I am interested in giving advice to parents to support their children as much as possible in their education.”

Congratulations to all of the 2,890 BCSD graduates.  We wish you great success in High School and beyond.
