“It’s a Wrap” for 77 Newly Inducted BCSD Teachers

Over 70 prospective teachers were honored as they completed the two-year Teacher Induction Program offered through the New Teacher Support Department at BCSD.  During the program, each participant receives mentoring, professional development and assigned support in order to meet the requirements set forth by the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).

A total of 77 participants were honored for their completion of the program for the 2017-2018 school year.  Nearly 150 people attended the event, which took place at Hodel’s Country Dining in Bakersfield.  Among the attendees were Pam Baugher, Board of Education President, school site principals, and BCSD administrators.

The mission of the BCSD New Teacher Support program is to help new teachers through individualized mentoring and professional development corresponding to their credential status.  This support helps improve teacher’s performance and their students’ achievements.
