December 28, 2017 - The students at Downtown School were treated to a dance party just before the winter break for their fundraising efforts to help needed families.
Rafer Johnson Student Wins “Letters to Santa” Contest
December 21, 2017 – Congratulations to Lashanda Jones, 4th grader at Rafer Johnson Elementary for being selected as one of the 25 winners from all of Kern County for her entry into the “Letters to Santa Contest.”
Migrant Education Program Celebrates New Location
December 20, 2017 – BCSD’s Migrant Education Program celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 1121 Baker Street with a press conference, ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.
Google Roadshow comes to BCSD
December 15, 2017 – Downtown School was selected as the site for Google’s Roadshow visit to Bakersfield. The event taught students about the importance of STEM education trough an interactive coding presentation. The visit was coordinated trough the offices of Assemblymembers Rudy Salas and Vince Fong
