    Doc Ervin, Superintendent

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!

As we enter into a new school year in the Bakersfield City School District, let us BELIEVE and commit that together, we can educate all students at the highest levels of academic excellence to become collaborative, creative, and critical thinkers.

We believe that all 5,000 staff members are essential to the overall success of the students in our district.  From our classified staff who are often the first faces our students and families see each morning, ensuring they enter into a warm and welcoming school environment, to our classroom teachers, our greatest resource, who work tirelessly to support the academic growth and development of our students.

Please join me in committing to the following core priorities:

  • We Believe in the collective capacity of our staff and the ability of staff at each school to positively affect student achievement.

  • We Believe grade-level mastery of content standards across all content areas is critical for high school and beyond.

  • We Believe in the power of relationships, and the impact caring and invested adults can have on the lives of our students.

  • We Believe implementing a coherent system is vital to meet the academic, behavioral and social-emotional needs of all students.

Through our efforts, communication, and collaboration, the Bakersfield City School District will be the model of educational excellence, equity, and innovation. Together, we can accomplish our greatest hopes and dreams for our students.

Once again, thank you for all that you do.  I wish you a successful and positive 2018-2019 school year!
