Junior High/Middle School Choir Sharing Festival

NEW for 2020-2021:  The Junior High/Middle School Choir Sharing Festival will be conducted virtually!  See your Vocal Music Teacher for details!

Bakersfield City School District held its 12th Annual Junior High/Middle School Choir Sharing Festival at Fox Theater on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.

This purpose of the event is to bring together all junior high/middle school choir students from throughout the District to one location so that they can perform and learn under the instruction of a selected choral clinician and guest conductor.  Students from each school have prepared musical selections since school started and share their performances with each other.

This event has garnered enthusiasm for singing throughout the District. More than 600 BCSD choir students performed at the festival.

The District hired five new vocal music teachers in 2015 to expand and build its choral music program. Choral classes have increased dramatically over the past two years.  Our dynamic teachers have prepared their students well for this year’s festival.

This year’s clinician/guest conductor was Ms. Lori Marie Rios, Associate Professor of Music at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.
