Welcome to Transportation

The Mission of the Transportation Department at Bakersfield City School District is to support our students' transportation needs with the goal of ongoing student success.

The Bakersfield City School District’s Transportation Department provides transportation for more than 7,500 students daily, to a total of 44 school sites. We also provide transportation services for field trips and extracurricular activities for the students of our District, traveling more than 1.3 million miles a year! Our fleet is operated by highly qualified professional school bus drivers who are skilled in defensive driving, safety, and student management. We currently operate 96 routes, with 61 routes dedicated to specialized transportation services that may include one of our 55 valued bus monitors to assist with students' needs. BCSD fleet maintenance staff diligently maintain our fleet of 161 school buses, which are inspected annually by the California Highway Patrol.

The Transportation Department staff appreciates your support in our efforts to provide the safest and most reliable transportation for our students.
