Mt. Vernon Elementary first opened its doors in 1940, making it one of the oldest schools in the district. It received a special honor from the State of California in 1995 as it was recognized as a Distinguished School. Through the years, Mt. Vernon and its staff have worked very hard to meet the educational needs of each child that has come through the doors.
