McKinley provides an exemplary well rounded educational experience for all students.  Rooted in Bakersfield history, while evolving to meet the needs of our students, McKinley strives to provide a warm welcoming environment where our students’ core learning is connected to science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, and agriculture. McKinley Elementary first began its journey in 1916 when it opened its original location at Ninth and O Streets. The school was moved to its current location in 1954 because of severe damage caused by the earthquake of 1952. Though McKinley has seen several changes over the years, one thing has never changed – the pursuit to provide every student the resources and instruction needed to be successful in school, career, and life.
