Colonel Howard Nichols Elementary
Nichols is focused on facilitating a culture of reading and providing students with intervention supports during and outside of school hours. We work each day to strengthen our writing instruction and ensure our students are provided with hands-on Math and Science instruction. Our teachers, campus supervisors, behavior intervention specialists, school psychologists, and administration work together to ensure our students' social-emotional needs are met so that they can focus on learning in our classrooms. Nichols Elementary opened in 1961. The school is named after Colonel Howard Nichols, a Colonel in the armed forces during World War II. Colonel Nichols was a local contractor who built many of the homes in the Nichols area and donated the land for the school to BCSD. Nichols’ staff work to provide a positive and effective integrated learning environment to promote high student achievement and respect and appreciation for self and others.
