Rafer Johnson is a community day school that can serve all general education or special education students.  Rafer specializes in working with students with behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional concerns. The goal is to assist each student with obtaining the skills necessary to become critical thinkers and to provide the appropriate support and services to return to a comprehensive general education campus.Rafer Johnson Community Day School is a unique educational environment, providing special needs services for children and their families.  The school opened in 1950 under the name Peter Pan School.  In 1972, the school was renamed Rafer Johnson School, after the Olympian who was an influential supporter of the Special Olympics.  Rafer Johnson Community Day School is uniquely equipped and staffed to provide quality educational services for children who require special attention and instruction.
