Lillian Tafoya brings twenty-three years of experience as a school trustee to the Bakersfield City School District Board of Directors.  Her passion for student advocacy emanated from having served as a teacher, school administrator, and adjunct professor. She was also an education consultant for a variety of companies including ASCD in Alexandria, VA. 

In her profession she received multiple awards including State and National Principal of the Year awards and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from New Mexico Highlands University. 

As a member of the National School Boards Association, she serves on the Equity Task Force, Policies and Resolutions Committee and Agenda for Action Committee.

Her service to CSBA has been extensive serving in multiple capacities and on a myriad of committees.  Presently, she serves on the California School Boards Association Equity Committee and as a Delegate on the Delegate Assembly.

Her greatest joy is serving on her local school board and advocating for the 30,000 plus students in the Bakersfield City School District.
