Marsa E. Voorhies Elementary
Voorhies thrives on having a great sense of community, where families and staff work together to support students. As a Dual Language Immersion school, Voorhies works to promote the three pillars: academic excellence, biliteracy, and sociocultural competence. Voorhies develops students to be thinkers, readers, writers, and mathematicians in order to thrive in today's society. Voorhies has worked to provide students with an excellent educational experience since 1960. The school is named after Marsa E. Voorhies, a long time BCSD Parent Teacher Association and Board of Education member who later served in various roles with the California Parent Teacher Association. Voorhies staff is driven to ensure all students learn in an environment in which teachers, parents, and community members work collaboratively to promote a strong work ethic, integrity, creativity, and linguistic competence in order to thrive.
